Not very much to write about today. Paula and Martin were up early to enjoy their last morning in Paris – for this trip, anyway. They surprised us with a beautiful hydrangea for the apartment to take away the blahs! of our apartment. \u00c2\u00a0Their thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated.<\/p>\n

A touch of class for our Parisian apartment<\/p><\/div>

\nWe left the apartment for our reservation for lunch at La Cordonerrie: Chez Claude and Yvette, Hugo’s restaurant on rue St-Roch. We settled in and shared mushrooms smothered in a bourguignon sauce that was to die-for. Mike and I selected a roast pork shoulder, from northern Spain (Iberia) and raised on chestnuts only, cooked with garlic, onions, and rosemary, accompanied by the most delicious, creamy potatoes. Martin and Paula chose the entrec\u00c3\u00b4te with frites since we had raved about it for a year or more. We relished our lunch and waited for the taxi Hugo had arranged for Paula and Martin.<\/p>\n

The taxi took Paula and Martin away and we strolled back to our apartment. As we reached the corner by the restaurant, a Maserati whizzed by and we wondered if Paula and Martin had switched modes of transportation! After yesterday’s shopping on the Camps Elysees and visiting the Porsche and Mercedes showrooms, we realized we shared an interest in fine automobiles.<\/p>\n

Paris’ skies were blue and the temperature reached 50 degrees. A great day for a stroll! When we got back to the apartment, we started our laundry — 2 weeks in Europe meant we were out of clean clothes. Two pairs of black jeans only go so far when then get splattered with cheese and chocolate.<\/p>\n

After laundry duty was completed we walked the neighborhood, picking up a few supplies, and found that many of the vendors along rue Montorgueil were closed on Monday. We returned to the apartment for the evening, taking it easy and living the Paris life, reading, listening to music, and just settling in….<\/p>\n\n\n\n
