We set out this morning for the market street of rue Mouffetard, one of Paris’ oldest streets, actually dating to the Romans. The street markets of Place Maubert and Place Monge and the pedestrian area are like street markets all over Paris – full of fresh ingredients from fruits and vegetables and cheeses and fish and meats and breads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As in the rest of Paris, shopkeepers here artfully display their wares in their store windows and maintain the sidewalks in front of their establishments. Adjacent to the area is an African market, the area even has the Paris Mosque, with a patio garden modeled on the Alhambra in Granada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We hopped the Metro to return to the Marais for lunch to try the delicatessen recommended by the guys from New Jersey we met at the Falafel place. They had highly recommended the latkes – but we found them lacking. Mike’s are much better! We savored our omlettes accompanied by a slice of fresh rye bread – after all we are in a Jewish deli on rue des Rosiers!<\/p>\n

The cinnamon buns at Korcarz, the Jewish delicatessen - tempted but we passed!<\/p><\/div>\n

After lunch, since the day was sunny and approaching 50 degrees, we walked down to the Seine to stroll along the Seine and enjoy the weather. \u00c2\u00a0On the way we stopped in a few of the garden shops and pet shops along the quai. \u00c2\u00a0Puppies were very cute, we saw a French Bull Dog for 950 euros, and a very cute little doggy that reminded us of Morgan. \u00c2\u00a0We found another bridge with locks attached to the railings at Pont-des-Arts but they were not as densely packed as on the Pont Archeveche! We got a great view of the Tour-St-Jacques, a tower that is all that remains of a church that served as a meeting point for pilgrims. Continuing along the Seine, we got a great view of the Musee D’Orsay before turning into the Tuileries to sit and sun in the afternoon sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Definitely French.....<\/p><\/div><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

We headed back to the apartment, stopped by the local fresh pasta shop and picked up some ravioli for dinner, stopped by the produce vendor to get tomatoes and ingredients for a sauce, and settled in for the night – after another 6 miles on the tourist trail!<\/p>\n
