Rainy Days and Fridays

http://iamlearningdisabled.com/dont-tell-me-to-try-harder At our “natural” mooring, we had multiple rain showers in the morning.  We had a later morning “brunch” so to speak, of poached eggs or scrambled eggs a la Mike-y.  When the showers broke, we untied from our trees and headed downstream to Douelle.

We had a lovely trip, skipping between raindrops, arriving at Douelle in early afternoon, and tied off near town at the dock decorated by a “wall mural” that to us looked more like graffiti.

Sunlight on a rainy day - across the Lot is Douelle and its decorated wall

We tied up for a while, we enjoyed our last day on the Lot River, relaxed and comfortable, and at inner peace between bursts of sunshine.

Shoe, Carol, Lou, and Sandy walked over to the leBoat office and determined we should head over to the dock now, while there was a space.  We then decided to make a run for the Crown Blue dock to moor for the night and tie up at our final place to turn the boat in on Saturday morning.  Mooring stern first was a little interesting, the wind had picked up, the current was strong – but, Oliver jumped aboard on our second try, used the adjacent boat as a pivot point to maneuver us precisely between two boats.  After showers (hot), and a few glasses of wine, a long discussion with the Swiss fishermen about their fishing success on the river, rain came again and we sat below discussing the last three weeks — and watching other boats try to dock.

We moored at the Crown Blue dock, next to a group of Swiss fisherman, who much preferred the Lot River to the Canal du Midi – because they caught better fish on the Lot.  However, there were far more wineries along the Midi than along the Lot.  Our Swiss neighbors liked the Cahors Malbec, but only 2005 vintage, but they as we did, felt the younger vintages were too young – just to confrm our opinion and group consensus.

Despite the lack of hair dryer, week on Lot has been good to Pat - notice the sun!

We tried to consume all our consumables, then dedcided to walk across the Lot River to Douelle to eat out.  We found a Bar/Restaurant and salade vert, wood-fired pizzas, red wine and a dessert called chocolat ligeois (2 boules of chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce and whipped cream) topped off the meal.
