Meeting and, then, Concert in Notre-Dame de la Lorette

We had to roust out of bed early this morning to make a early morning appointment with Saydo at A La Carte Invest.   We ended up meeting everyone in the office, including Alex, the founder of the company.  The meeting lasted over 2 hours and we gleaned lots of information about investing in apartments in Paris: where to look, what size, what amenities, and what services A La Carte can provide regarding searching, financing, refurbishing, decorating, and rental management.  We met their logistics manager, Carol a quality control manager and decorator, Katy, who worked with us on our reservation, etc.  Julie, the office manager, had had her third baby on Sunday, so we missed the opportunity to meet her – she is on maternity leave with her new son!

We gathered up all our reference and reading material and walked over to Notre-Dame de Lorette for the organ recital we had seen advertised last week.  We had time, so we grabbed lunch, omelets, salad, fries, at a bistro across the street from the church.

We took our seats on the uncomfortable rush seated, straight-back, chairs and the concert began at 1 PM.  It lasted about an hour and was actually a clarinet and an organ.  Eric lebrun played the clarinet; Marie-Ange Leurent the organ.   Click Here to Listen Pieces included works by Handel, Mozart, Gabriel Faure, and Rochmaninoff.  The last piece by Mozart was actaully performed by both musicians playing the organ or, as the French say: “orgue a quatre mains.”

When the concert ended, we headed over to the Musee Gustave Moreau, a symbolist painter known for depicting fantasies (mythological and biblical) in a vivid and imaginative style.  When he died in 1998, he left a collection of sketches, oils, and watercolors to the French government – as well as his townhouse.  Unfortunately, it’s Tuesday and the museum is closed!

We ended up at Place de Madeleine, checking out the designer shops, the food stores  likeHeliard and Fauchon, the truffle store, the caviar store, etc.  One of a shops I had previously visited, a dog and cat supply or amenity store, was now a Yves de Lorme bedding store.  Change happens!
