A Saturday in Paris shopping/window shopping

L’govskiy It Saturday morning here in France and while the rest of you are still in bed getting your beauty sleep Pat and I are up early, well early for us and out the door.  We are head out to checkout a couple of flea markets.

cheap isotretinoin singapore We took the metro from Etienne Marcel to Ledru-Rollin to the Vintage clothing, second-hand goods & fresh produce market at Place d’Aligre and rue d’Aligre, between rue de Charenton and rue Crozatier (Arr 12).

This is always a very active and busy market, especially on Saturday morning and this morning was no exception.  We walked around and checked out the brocante that the vendors offered and reviewed the fruits, vegetables, fish and meats and then decided to head over to Porte de Vanves.  We had visited it while Paula and Martin were in town but different day often leads to different finds.

Unfortunately getting from the 12th to the 14th is not without it challenges, so we had to make 3 changes on the metro to get to Vanves.  By this time it was getting on towards 11:00 the decision was to grab a Croissant aux Aumandes and put off lunch because Vanves is not known to be and area of fine food.  We walked around the market, this one is just brocante and no food.  Pat did find some shopping bags that she was looking for so after finishing the market we headed back to Les Halles to visit E. Dehillerin, the best kitchen supply in Paris.  My old friend Mr. Franc was working, he had just returned from lunch as was willing to sit a chat, I think he would have actually like to take a nap but not on a busy Saturday.  The place was very busy as is normal.  I picked up a couple of scrapers and we headed back to the apartment to drop off our purchases.

Our plan was to have lunch at cafe Marie Stuart, but they were packed, it was about 2:00 which is the busy time for lunch on a Saturday.  We waked up the street and reviewed a couple of menus which are always posted outside which is French Law and decided to eat at Cafe Du Centre.  While we waited for a table inside, there too many smokers on the street side tables we had a opportunity to review the days special dishes.  The chef had prepared a special burger for the day and it looked absolutely fabulous that we both decide to order it which is unusual because we almost never order the same dish.  The burger was 250 grams of beef, on a beautiful bun with parmesan and roquefort cheese and “moêlle du four” which is translated to marrow from the oven.  The burger had a slice of tomato and arugula as well served with frites and a salad.  A very big lunch, neither on finished it, but we were able to wash it down with a nice bordeaux.

After lunch we need a walk; so we continued our window shopping, stopping at each agent immobilizer (Realtor) office to check on prices and availability of apartments in the area.  We then explored some street near by that we had not ventured down before and stopped by A. Simon another kitchenware shop and their sister store to look at dishes and glassware.  I also ran into G. Detou to check on flavoring and molecular gastronomy chemicals but they are way busy on Saturday so I let that for another day. Some more window shopping and we grabbed a baguette, for wine and cheese later for supper we also stopped and grab some apples, oranges and grapes before heading back to the apartment around 6:00 for some rest and relaxation. After that lunch we were not sure we were even going to eat tonight.

Al in all it was a 4.75 mile day.
