After a breakfast of French pastries and coffee, we set out for a special brocante and antiquities street fair in Place Madeleine. The vendors extended from the Metro at l’Opera down the avenue toward the church at Madeleine.
W found some beautiful vintage clothes, reproduction furniture, costume jewelry, and bric-a-brac. When we started out the temperature was 28 degrees – a very chilly day for the vendors to sit out on the sidewalk and hawk their wares. I discovered a gorgeous Chanel ring and the sweet vendor really tried to make a sale. But I behaved myself, thanked him, and walked away!
To warm up, we stopped in at both of the Fauchon stores with their fabulously presented food items, wide selection of expensive wines, and, of course, chocolates  and cakes of every size and shape for Valentine’s Day.
We stopped in at Cafe Madeleine for lunch, squeezed in at a little table between other diners packing the place like they do in Paris. Space is a premium after all. Â Our waiter was very busy but he got us in and out in less than a hour.

We left the restaurant, magically the temperature had increased to 38 degrees, and stopped in at Hediard, passed by the truffle shop, and visited the church at Madeleine.
We hopped the Metro to head back toward Rue Montorgueil to shop for ingredients for dinner: crevettes, scallops, salad fixings, coeur-de-beouf tomatoes, a 5 liter box of bordeaux, an assortment of cheeses, bread, and a slice of coconut pie to share.
Back at the apartment, we poured a glass of wine, started on the cheese, and dinner was delayed until tomorrow (Sunday).
